Bar Elena is a funky, multi-faceted space offering oysters on the half shell, fun takes on bar food, seasonal entrees, and specials all alongside skee ball and pinball machines. We stock a great rotating beer list on draught, a concise wine list to compliment a varied menu, and awesome cocktails featuring local distilleries in the DMV.

Bar Elena is the brain child of Adam Stein, a very regular, regular of Boundary Road (the previous restaurant in the space). When the chance to take over the old space fell in his lap, he took it and ran.



Chef Adam Stein grew up in Northern VA and went to school at Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH. He later attended Johnson & Wales in Providence Rhode Island. With almost 20 years in the industry, Adam has opened numerous restaurants as Executive Chef or Chef Consultant, many in the Washington Metro Area. In April of 2017 Adam left his position of opening chef at Red’s Table in Reston, VA to open Bar Elena and his forthcoming venue The Eleanor.

Sharon Wetteland is a veteran of the hospitality industry with 28 years’ experience as a chef, caterer, corporate trainer, single unit and multi-unit manager. Sometimes referred to as the ‘Nanny McPhee of hospitality’, she has opened 38 hospitality operations over her career, including freestanding restaurants, hotel properties and resorts. A fairly recent newcomer to the east coast, Sharon first teamed with Chef Adam Stein when the two opened Red’s Table in Reston, VA in 2015.
